A co-worker and I were talking this morning about our love of real-deal vintage clothing (pre-1960). I said I think of it as wearing stories. She said she thinks of it as wearing dreams.
The difference? She prefers hers in mint condition, unworn, and speculates that they were saved for special occasions that never happened in the lives of the original owners. I prefer mine somewhat worn, something special that has stood the test of time and has a good story to tell.
In the “change pocket” of vintage jackets, I’ve found an old theatre ticket, a diary page dated 1938, an old hat check ticket, and an old train ticket. Stories and Dreams – that’ll be the name of my vintage clothing shop.
